Hello all,
Just to let you know, Ron and I have been gathering steam on a series of additions to the site. Ron has installed the Gallery software and will be putting up a link to it soon. The Gallery section will include The Weapons of SR/IV and SR/IV Fan Art, among other things.

Also going up in the near future:

The complete Private Investigator's Final Report on Daniel Desipio's last days in Panama, as submitted to the Pulp Devil Press

An analysis of the Underlying Themes in the Slaughter Realms series and their origins

A biography of the mysterious, missing Daniel Desipio

A photo-illustrated essay on the painstaking restoration of the SR/IV manuscript

And of course, SR/IV Chapter 3!

I'm starving on the breadcrumbs!

I was wondering about the weapons - seems like the same 'ol story nothing left but stockpiles of old weapons - no new technology; maybe we learn this later. I'm hoping that with the new humanoid and quasi-human breeds we'd have some new weapon concepts due to animal/plant natural defenses such as venom, stingers and poison. Why shoot or slice your enemy when you can spit venom or eject needles at them and move in for the kill!

So AP how does working on DDs manuscript compare to driving yourself into unconsciousness for writing on your own - or do you still have to pass out?!!

Although some of the solvents involved in the clean-up have made me woozy at times , the process is entirely different than working as a writer-for-hire. For one thing, the pressure I normally feel to complete something—a gradually-building panic over the prospect of running out of money or getting fired for gross incompetence—is absent. My current income stream has nothing to do with the SR/IV project.

Getting involved in something like this, essentially a Book Doctoring project with toxic fumes, for the sheer joy of it and with ample time to reflect is a new experience for me. I haven’t completely internalized it, yet. As the book progresses I may well fall back on Sleep Writing © (A Hypnagogic Methodology) techniques to address particularly thorny (or poison-fangy) issues that DD left unresolved or mold has rendered illegible.

Hmm, maybe you should try mind games. Create your own frenzied environment by setting difficult goals on the project and pick out a consequence that would create the crisis mode you are used to if you are not achieving that goal.

Gee, kind of like I did for the last 25 years?

Okay BAR0426, here's a writer-for-hire trade secret (kids, please do not try this at home): I usually never started writing a GE novel, not Word One, until THE DAY THE SUCKER WAS DUE. Talk about avoidance. Talk about artificial, "difficult goals" and "crisis mode"! Given that fact, is it any wonder that to complete the contracted work in a "reasonable" time past-deadline, say six to eight weeks, I had to put myself into an altered state of consciousness (receptively semi-comatose) and rely on thought transmissions from Neptune?

Ah, now I understand. Kudos to your wife and thank the Universe it wasn't Uranus. But then again "GE brings good things to life" even if they have to dangle your paycheck!

You're right about the long-suffering Mrs. Philipson: no way Intergalactic Mindmeld Al can take out the trash.
